Trump risks joke on marriage to Melania and her reaction is very telling – Irish Star

First Lady Melania Trump seemed to laugh after her husband Donald Trump, while alluding to the attempt on his life in 2024, condemned wives who don't appear concerned when their spouses are harmed, saying "that's the kind of wife you don't want."
The President made the remark during the White House BBQ Friday, a ceremonial event where he officially sign his polarizing "big, beautiful" bill into law after a largely smooth process through the House and Senate. During the event, Trump praised the wife of Majority Leader Steve Scalise, who he said was devastated following the news of the attempt on his life last year at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
"I've seen a lot of wives that don't seem so concerned in those situations. That's the kind of wife you don't want." The first lady had a wide smile across her face as her husband talked highly of his colleague's spouse.
Despite her sparse appearances with President Trump, Melania has seemed especially estranged from her husband since he began his second non-consecutive term as commander-in-chief.
She has been seen laughing numerous times as Trump commits public blunders and describes personal shortcomings during rallies and presidential addresses. In an embarrassing address in May, Trump revealed how little the Kremlin regards the White House, saying that Russian leader Vladimir Putin treated his wife with more respect than the Commander-in-Chief himself.
In a further setback, Melania seemed to smile while her husband related the extremely embarrassing tale.
According to an author, Melania "laughed" when Trump's team invited her to join her husband on the campaign trail in the run-up to the 2024 election.
Melania initially avoided the spotlight following her husband's announcement that he would seek a second term as president. She missed significant occasions such as his Super Tuesday primary election portion and his court appearances during his criminal hush money trial in New York.
However, after Trump was the target of an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania, she later spoke out at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in July 2024. On election night, she joined her husband on stage for his victory speech in West Palm Beach, Florida, and she later addressed supporters at a rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
According to journalist Michael Wolff, who has authored several critical books on the president, Melania reportedly sneered at the campaign's attempt "to get her to accompany her husband."
In his forthcoming book All or Nothing, which will be published on February 25, the author—who has been called a liar and "a fraud" who "fabricates stories" by the White House's communications director—made the assertion.
