Legendary Nigerian rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, has reacted to the Federal Government’s ban on his newly released anti-Tinubu song, Tell Your Papa.
DAILY POST reports that the FG, through the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, banned the Tell Your Papa song on Thursday, labelling it “offensive”.
Reacting to the ban in an Instagram post on Thursday evening, Abdulkareem described the Nigerian government’s actions as an attempt to silence the truth and suppress criticism.
While likening the ban to the 2004 censorship of his iconic protest song Jaga Jaga, the outspoken singer accused President Tinubu’s administration of being “insensitive and vindictive.”
Sharing the NBC memo regarding his song, he wrote: “It is obvious that in Nigeria, truth and constructive criticism is always deemed a big crime by the government.
“President Bola Tinubu-led government is now going on record as one of the most insensitive, vindictive and grossly maleficent administration that has ever presided over the affairs of Nigeria.
“They are instructing broadcast houses to shield the government by hiding the candle under the table. Anyone wonder why Nigeria has not made impactful strides all these years? The conscience is an open wound, only the truth can heal it.”
