Donald Glover had a farm (inspired fashion collection) – dazeddigital.com

Donald Glover is a man of many talents. When he’s not performing or releasing music as Childish Gambino, he’s acting in The Lion King, Mr and Mrs Smith, or Spider-Man. Aged 23, whilst studying at NYU, he was recruited by Tina Fey to work as a writer on 30 Rock, and since then, has gathered numerous accolades, including several Golden Globes, Emmys and Grammys.
Having conquered music, TV and film, Glover can now add fashion designer to his belt. As announced earlier this week, the polymath just dropped his debut collection in collaboration with Moncler, inspired by Gilga Farm – an operational farm and creative hub in Ojai, California, that Glover purchased in 2023. Described as a ‘cultural library’, the farm acts as an incubator for creatives, complete with housing, live-performance and recording spaces, plus editing suites and writers’ rooms.
The new collection with Moncler, titled A World of Usefulness, is as durable and practical as it sounds. Inspired by Moncler’s mountain DNA, pieces include down outerwear and quilted vests, as well as a colour palette that mimics dreamy sunsets over the farm.
“Functionality is key — it’s something that connects the world of Gilga and Moncler, we both create for real-world usefulness,” says Glover. “The sleeping bag is one of the first products Moncler ever made, which inspired our sleeping bag jacket, but also led to a collection of summer fits grounded in real value.” You can shop the collection now at moncler.com as well as in select stores.
Elsewhere in fashion this week, Glover isn’t the only musician/actor turning to fashion – FKA Twigs is also a designer now, thanks to her collaboration with On. Meanwhile, London designer Sinéad O’Dwyer has branched into underwear, and Oasis and adidas Originals united for a 90s-inspired ‘Original Forever’ collection. Here’s everything else you need to catch up on…

The jewellery room is a gold-tiled bathroom, three separate reception rooms house the SS25 ready-to-wear collection, and there’s even a secret boudoir for VIP guests, complete with a swanky bed and fireplace – now open on the first floor of Harrods.
