Fox News’ David Webb claimed that President Donald Trump is “losing money” in his capacity as commander-in-chief on Outnumbered Monday, despite reports that the Trump family’s net worth has increased by $2.9 billion thanks to his cryptocurrency business alone, which has flourished in the months since Trump took office.
In a discussion about the financial position of former President Barack Obama and his family, Webb embarked on a monologue about Trump’s supposed lack of profiteering off of his presidency.
“You know who doesn’t take a salary? Donald Trump, and he’s actually worth money going into the White House, and losing money,” began Webb. “I would love to get a perspective from someone else, because I know, because he’s been texting me, a son of a president, a former president, is watching the show right now. Please tell me what it cost your father Ronald Reagan, and the family to watch. Now you know who I’m talking about.”
“This is ridiculous. You have a staff, you have security, you have all the things, you have $400,000 a year, which means you don’t have to spend that money getting around. You don’t to spend it on Metro bus, and Metro rail tickets. and all this, because they’re in SUVs,” he continued. “Come on! This is elitism at the top end of elitism.”
A State Democracy Defenders Action report recently found that Trump’s cryptocurrency holdings alone are now worth approximately $2.9 billion.
Trump’s reported interest in accepting a luxury jet from Qatar over the weekend also caused widespread outcry, including an editorial from The Free Press that took aim at Trump over not just the jet, but a golf resort deal struck with the Qataris, a hotel deal in Dubai, and a private club opening up in Georgetown.
“The Hunter Biden affair really was a scandal. But these days, it seems like small potatoes,” observed the center-right publication.
