Sir Keir Starmer will today recall his cabinet for an emergency meeting on the situation in Gaza, Sky News understands.
The rare cabinet meeting during parliamentary recess is set to begin at 2pm, with the key topic being how to get more aid into Gaza.
We also expect to hear about “next steps” after the cabinet meeting – although we do not yet know how and when we will learn more.
This comes on the heels of the PM’s meetings with US President Donald Trump in Scotland yesterday – where the pair seemed to be very much on the same page about getting more aid into Gaza quickly.
However, the US and UK are less aligned about the Two State Solution Conference that’s under way in New York – see our 6.48 post.
At least 78 Palestinians were killed by Israeli attacks on Monday, according to local health officials.
A pregnant woman, named as Soad al Shaer by the AP news agency, is among the dead.
Her baby girl died hours after being delivered in a complex emergency caesarean, the agency said.
Shaer was reportedly among 12 Palestinians killed in an Israeli attack on a house and neighbouring tents in Khan Younis, according to the Nasser Hospital.
Another strike hit a house nearby, killing at least 11 people.
Israel says it only targets militants and blames civilian deaths on Hamas because the militants operate in densely populated areas.
The Israeli military will pause fighting in three areas of Gaza again today.
The pause will take place from 10am to 8pm local time (8am to 6pm UK time) to allow aid to enter into the enclave.
The Israel Defence Forces says its operations in Muwasi, Deir al Balah and Gaza City will be halted daily until further notice. This is the third daily pause, and fighting will continue elsewhere.
Today is the second day of a UN two-state solution summit in New York, which the US and Israel are boycotting.
The summit is co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, having been postponed from June and downgraded to a ministerial level.
David Lammy, the UK foreign secretary, is attending the event as international condemnation of Israel’s handling of the war in Gaza grows.
Both Israel and the United States, its closest ally, have refused to participate in the meeting, which France’s foreign minister said was being attended by representatives of 125 countries, including 50 ministers.
The aim of the conference, Jean-Noel Barrot said, is “to reverse the trend of what is happening in the region – mainly the erasure of the two-state solution, which has been for a long time the only solution that can bring peace and security in the region”.

Good morning and welcome back to our live coverage of the war in Gaza.
We’ll bring you the latest updates throughout the day, but here’s what you need to know this morning:
Thanks for following our live coverage of the war in Gaza today.
We’ll be back with more soon. Until then, here’s a rundown of what’s happened so far today:
And if you missed it, catch up with the main story of today with Sky correspondent Sally Lockwood, who has been at a runway in Jordan where Gaza-bound aid planes have been departing from.
Here are the scenes from Gaza City today showing Palestinians waiting for food from a charity kitchen.
Israel says it’s now allowing more aid to enter Gaza after growing international pressure for it to do so.
Gaza’s ministry of health says 100 people have been killed in the Strip in the last 24 hours.
It also says 382 injured people went to hospitals.
The statement also says there were 25 were “aid victims”,  bringing the total killed while seeking food to 1,157 – with more than 7,700 said to have been injured.
The ministry also says 14 more deaths occurred due to famine and malnutrition – bringing that total to 147, including 88 children.
The statement puts the overall number of dead “from the Israeli aggression” since 7 October 2023 stands at 59,921.
Gaza’s health ministry is run by Hamas and the figures do not break down the number of civilians and the number of fighters.
Jordan says its armed forces have carried out two airdrops over Gaza supplying “17 tonnes of food and basic necessities”.
It said the deliveries were carried out “with the participation of the United Arab Emirates” and that they were “aimed at alleviating the humanitarian suffering” in the enclave.
It added that Jordan’s air force has conducted 128 airdrops since the beginning of the war in Gaza, in addition to 268 joint airdrops in cooperation with other countries.
Two leading human rights organisations based inside Israel have said the country is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
In reports published this morning, B’Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) said Israel had targeted civilians in Gaza only because of their identity as Palestinians.
“What we see is a clear, intentional attack on civilians in order to destroy a group,” said B’Tselem director Yuli Novak, calling for urgent action.
PHR said Israel’s military campaign shows evidence of a “deliberate and systemic dismantling of Gaza’s health and life-sustaining systems”.
Both organisations said Israel’s Western allies were enabling the genocidal campaign, and shared responsibility for suffering in Gaza.
“It couldn’t happen without the support of the Western world,” Novak said. “Any leader that is not doing whatever they can to stop it is part of this horror.”
Israel has strongly denied claims of genocide.
Hamas said the reports by the two groups were a “clear and unambiguous testimony from within Israeli society itself regarding the grave crimes perpetrated by the occupation regime against our people”.
