MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Georgia Military College(GMC) Prep School announced that current Vice Principal Dr. Steve Greer will fill the role as the new GMC Prep School Principal.
“We’re thrilled to have Dr. Greer as the new Principal for GMC Prep School,” said President of Georgia Military College, Lieutenant General, USA (Ret.), William B. Caldwell, IV. “He and his family have been members of our GMC team for five years, and both of his children graduated from our Prep School. We know Dr. Greer will continue to do great things for GMC Prep, spearheading new programs and opportunities for our students, while continuing to ‘develop the intellect and elevate the character’ for all.”

According to the school, Dr. Greer has been with GMC Prep School for five years and served as Vice Principal for the past two years. He served as an Associate Principal for three years as well.
During his time at GMC Prep, the school says that Dr. Greer has been instrumental in revamping the Prep School’s discipline system to ensure policies are in writing, consistent, and standards based.
In addition, Greer was instrumental in spearheading the United Kingdom International Exchange program that has provided unique experiences and promoted cross-cultural enrichment both abroad and in Milledgeville between cadets at GMC Prep School and the Royal Hospital School, an independent coed school in Suffolk, England. He also served as Prep School wrestling head coach for four years.
“Dr. Greer leads with character and when you see him on campus, he is all about the students. The other members of the Board of Trustees and I are looking forward to seeing him lead the Prep School as Principal in the years to come,” said GMC Board of Trustees Chairman, George Hogan. “As far as Col. Grant, she has been a champion for our Prep School, spearheading a number of projects to continue moving us forward. We will miss her at the helm but are glad she is staying on to serve as the Assistant Superintendent next year.”
Dr. Greer is a retired Army Command Sergent Major.
Greer says he has plans in the upcoming year where he will be leading the effort to put a special emphasis on a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) curriculum for the K-12 program and will seek STEAM certification.
He also says the Prep School will build upon its diverse student body and will continue to foster a climate of inclusion and respect for all students, faculty, staff, and families.
Greer says GMC Prep School will continue to provide a high-quality educational and character development experience for every student and will maintain the school’s rich traditions and standards of excellence that GMC Prep School is known for.
