We can only hope the first stage of the negotiations will end on Monday will the announcement of a cease-fire that will usher in a long, exhausting and nerve-racking process of releasing 10 living hostages and the bodies of some of the dead. The 60 days of this process will seem like an eternity, and there’s no guarantee they won’t be cut short by the resumption of the war, which is currently being waged with no clear goals.
