With her Senate confirmation hearing this week, Kimberly Guilfoyle is one step closer to becoming the official ambassador to Greece.
And Donald Trump showed his support — by attending and sitting behind Guilfoyle as she testified before the Senate.
But it wasn’t President Donald Trump, who picked Guilfoyle for the role almost seven months ago. Nor was it her former fiancé Donald Trump Jr., whom she once called her “soulmate” and “forever friend” during their six-year relationship.
It was Donald Trump III.
On July 9, Guilfoyle joined other ambassador and U.S. representatives to the United Nations nominees at a confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. On an Instagram Reel, she said in the caption: “Honored to deliver my opening statement before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee today. I’m ready to strengthen our partnership with Greece, advance American interests, and proudly represent our great nation on the world stage.”
She shared Reels and photos from the hearing to her social media following, with one photo of her son Ronan Villency and Donald Trump III, son of Donald Trump Jr. and grandson of Donald Trump. In the Instagram video below, Donald Trump III is seen sitting behind the former Fox News television personality as she addresses the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Kimberly Guilfoyle is a former model, attorney and Fox News host from San Francisco, California. She’s been a familiar face in the Trump circle. Guilfoyle previously appeared on “The Five” and “Outnumbered” on Fox News. Before her relationship with Donald Trump Jr., Guilfoyle was previously married to California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, for four years while he was the mayor of San Francisco. They divorced in 2006, and she married furniture heir Eric Villency the same year. They had a son, Ronan Villency, but divorced in 2009.
Donald Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle dated from 2018 to 2024. Both were active in the 2020 presidential election, appearing at rallies and giving speeches. Donald Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle also were active in the 2024 presidential election.
In March 2021, the former couple purchased a $9.7 million two-story home in Jupiter that has seven bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a wine room, theater, elevator, chef’s kitchen, guest wings, a pool and private dock. Their home in Admirals Cove is about 20 miles north of Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump’s private club in Palm Beach, Florida. The move enabled Donald Trump Jr. to spend more time with his five children — Kai Trump, Donald Trump III, Tristan Trump, Spencer Trump and Chloe Trump — from his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump, who lives nearby in Jupiter.
In December 2024, Donald Trump nominated Guilfoyle as the next U.S. ambassador to Greece days after photos surfaced of Donald Trump Jr. kissing Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson.
After Donald Trump’s announcement, Guilfoyle shared her excitement about her new position on Instagram: “I’m honored to accept President Trump’s nomination to serve as the next Ambassador to Greece and I look forward to earning the support of the U.S. Senate. … As ambassador, I look forward to delivering on the Trump agenda, supporting our Greek allies, and ushering in a new era of peace and prosperity.”
Guilfoyle’s Instagram description mentions her new post: “Public figure. Appointed by President Donald J. Trump as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece.”
On May 7, Breitbart News journalist Matthew Boyle shared a photo online of Kimberly Guilfoyle “graduating from ambassador school.”
The U.S. State Department requires ambassadors and U.S. diplomats to undergo training at the Foreign Service Institute. According to its site, the curriculum involves foreign language studies, understanding state government and leadership training.
Though she and Donald Trump Jr. are no longer dating, Guilfoyle continues to be a strong champion for his father and uses her various platforms — her X presence, Instagram and Rumble podcast — to spread Trump administration news.
On July 9, Guilfoyle testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, but she has not been officially sworn in. Ambassadors typically are based at the U.S. embassy of the host country, or in this case, 91 Vasilisis Sophias Ave., 10160 Athens, Greece.
Said Guilfoyle at her Senate confirmation hearing: “I thank my closest family and friends and their encouragement and offer special thanks and love to my son (Ronan Villency), my brother (Tony Guilfoyle), and to Donnie Trump for their steadfast support and my parents who would be proud to see me here today.”
