SAN ANTONIO – A local woman-owned aerospace company has announced a massive partnership, which could help create new job opportunities.
On Tuesday, Knight Aerospace announced a partnership with Embraer, a Brazil-based company, allowing militaries to order the KC-390 Millennium, a legendary aircraft, along with the full catalog of Knight Aerospace's modular and palletized cargo aircraft solutions.
The Embraer KC-390 has been highly sought after by various European air forces and is vying to become a prime US defense contractor.
The partnership has already produced its first customer, the Royal Netherlands Air Force, deploying Knight Aerospace's medical modules and medevac pallets.
“Our modular systems are redefining what cargo aircraft can achieve, and this long-term partnership with Embraer is a testament to the global trust in our design and execution,” said Bianca Rhodes, CEO of Knight Aerospace. “Knight Aerospace products don’t just help Embraer sell planes; they help save lives.”
Knight Aerospace is world-renowned for its development of 'fully self-contained, roll-on/roll-off medical modules for military cargo aircraft,' allowing for planes to essentially become flying emergency rooms.
“We are honored to expand our footprint on the KC-390 and support global partners with unmatched mission flexibility,” said Rhodes. “Our modular systems are redefining what cargo aircraft can achieve, and this long-term partnership with Embraer is a testament to the global trust in our design and execution.”
The company, based out of San Antonio's Boeing Techport, says the development will lead to major local expansion, including increased hiring in San Antonio.
