SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – On Friday, United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell announced that a Mankato, Minnesota, man convicted of Abusive Sexual Contact had been sentenced to prison.
Ethan Schnitker, 41, was sentenced to two years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
He was indicted by a federal grand jury in May of 2023 and pleaded guilty in March of 2025.
The sentence stems from an incident in 2021 in Gregory County, when Schnitker had sexual contact with a minor victim without their consent.
This case was investigated by the FBI and the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Wayne Venhuizen prosecuted the case.
Schnitker was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
