For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
A week after winning the 200 back at Austin Sectionals, rising junior Parker Efird announced his verbal commitment to the United States Naval Academy for 2027-28.
“I’m beyond blessed to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic journey at the United States Naval Academy. I’d like to thank my family, friends, and teammates for supporting me in this process. I’d like to thank Coach Rey for his support, and Coach Roberts for this incredible opportunity. I am very fortunate for this opportunity to serve my country. GO NAVY BEAT ARMY.”
Efird hails from Sugar Land, Texas. He attends Logos Preparatory Academy and swims year-round with Dad’s Club Swim Team. At the 2025 TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) Division 2 State Championship, he won the 50 free (21.94) and 100 back (52.30). As a freshman at the Division 3 state meet, he won the 50 free with 21.80 and the 100 back with 53.25.
In club swimming, he is a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 100m back and a Winter U.S. Open qualifier in the 200m back. He has achieved Futures standards in the SCY 500/1650 free and 100 back. At Justin Sectionals in March, he earned PBs in the 50 back (23.68) and 200 back (1:48.63), placing 14th in the 200. So far this summer, he has notched LCM lifetime bests in the 200 free (2:01.36), 400 free (4:15.18), 100 back (57.81), 200 back (2:04.19), 100 fly (59.53), 200 IM (2:18.43), and 400 IM (4:54.43).
Navy finished 2nd to Army West Point at the 2025 Patriot League Championships, failing to earn the conference crown for the first time since 2005. With 2 years left to go before he heads to Annapolis, Efird’s times would already be useful to the Midshipmen at the conference meet in the ‘B ‘ final of the 200 back, the top 16 of the 1650 free, and the ‘C’ final of the 500 free.

This guy looks like a real chad! I swam back in the day and wish I was fast enough for such a place. Kid’s going places for sure! Go Navy! Beat the Gremlins up North!
PARKER!!!! We are so proud of you!!! We have loved watching you swim these last few years and seeing you achieve your goals. Your servant heart is so big …. Thanks for serving in this capacity, too! Can’t wait to see what God has in store for you next. Congratulations!
How does this work I thought that in person contact/ official visits weren’t allowed until september 1st of an athletes junior year
What is there about a nonbinding *verbal commitment* that runs contrary to that?
Would you offer a spot to a kid that you’ve never met in person in your life to compete for your University and represent a culture for the next 6 years without having seen them before? (2 years of high school left)
The federal service academies are allowed to have direct contact with prospects a few months before other D1 schools.
They still can’t call before June 15 or host visits before Aug 1.
Very impressive how navy doesn’t pre scan for any medical disqualifications! And getting a commit before the first allowed day of visits! Beat em tho!
Bro who is this

Congrats to Parker! So deserving
