Many people in Israel were euphoric at the prospect of a second presidential term for Donald Trump. They were confident that the new president would provide Israel with unlimited military assistance and grant it a carte blanche to open the gates of hell in Gaza and perhaps even annex the West Bank. The left (or what remains of it) and the larger number of Israelis who want to see the hostages returned home saw Trump as an insurance policy for ending the war.
