Vice President James David “JD” Vance will address the U.S. Naval Academy’s Class of 2025 during its graduation and commissioning ceremony on Friday, May 23. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. Attendance is limited and the event will not be open to the general public.
Vance, the 50th Vice President of the United States, is a native of Middletown, Ohio. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps after high school, serving four years as a military journalist and attaining the rank of corporal. His service earned him the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
Following his military service, Vance earned degrees from Ohio State University and Yale Law School. Before entering politics, he worked as a venture capitalist. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2022 and assumed the vice presidency in 2025. He is also the author of the best-selling memoir Hillbilly Elegy.
The Naval Academy will stream the ceremony live on its official YouTube channel, allowing friends, family, and the public to view the event remotely.
