On Wednesday, Day 44 since the resumption of the genocide in Gaza, Israeli forces intensified their bombardment and shelling across the besieged and devastated Gaza Strip, killing and injuring dozens of Palestinians. The humanitarian crisis continues to worsen, with Gaza’s children suffering from severe malnutrition as Israel maintains its blockade on essential aid deliveries.
Medical sources confirmed that numerous Palestinians were killed and wounded in renewed Israeli attacks on Beit Hanoun, in northern Gaza.
In central Gaza, one woman succumbed to serious wounds she suffered two days ago when the army bombed the Saftwai Coffeeshop at the entrance of the Nuseirat refugee camp on Salahuddin Street, instantly killing at seven Palestinians and wounding many.
In Khan Younis, southern Gaza, Palestinian woman Kholood Najjar succumbed to severe wounds sustained when the Israeli army bombarded her home days ago in the Qizan Najjar area.
Additionally, another Palestinian was killed in the Qizan Rashwan area, south of Khan Younis, after an Israeli drone fired live rounds at displaced civilians.
Israeli forces also launched heavy fire, including dozens of live rounds and shells, targeting the Senati area, east of Abasan al-Kabira town.
Meanwhile, in Gaza City, rescue teams recovered the body of a Palestinian with special needs from beneath the rubble of a bombed home in the Zeitoun neighborhood.
Israeli forces have also carried out extensive artillery shelling across multiple areas, including eastern Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza, Miraj junction north of Deir Al-Balah, and the eastern neighborhoods of Shuja’iyya and Tuffah in Gaza City. In addition, missile strikes were reported in areas southeast of Khan Younis, resulting in many casualties.
Medical sources in Gaza confirmed that Israeli missile and artillery attacks since dawn Wednesday have killed at least 29 Palestinians and wounded dozens more, including children and women, with many still trapped under the rubble.
Earlier Wednesday, Israeli missiles and shells struck various parts of the coastal enclave, killing and wounding dozens of residents.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) reported that approximately 3,000 aid trucks loaded with life-saving supplies remain stranded outside Gaza due to the ongoing blockade. With a million children dependent on these critical shipments, their survival is at stake. UNRWA has urgently called for border crossings to be reopened and the siege to be lifted to allow humanitarian aid to reach those in need.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the occupied Palestinian territories has reported an alarming 80% increase in the number of children receiving treatment for malnutrition compared to March. The crisis is attributed to Israel’s continued blockade and border closures, severely restricting access to essential supplies.
In a statement issued Wednesday, OCHA revealed that 92% of infants between six months and two years—along with their mothers—are unable to meet their minimum nutritional needs, putting them at grave health risks with lifelong consequences. Furthermore, the report found that 65% of Gaza’s population lacks access to clean drinking water, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation.
Meanwhile, UN Food Rights Expert Michael Fakhri, speaking to Al Jazeera, condemned Israel’s actions, stating, “Israel is using the lives of Palestinian children as a bargaining chip. We have exhausted every available means to describe the horror of Israel’s actions in Gaza. Israel is committing genocide, starvation, and war crimes. The systematic use of food as a weapon is part of Israel’s strategy.”

The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that on Wednesday alone, at least 35 Palestinians were killed, with 109 others wounded, including many children and women.
Since the ceasefire expired on March 18, 2025, and Israel refused to reinstate it, the death toll has climbed alarmingly. Between March 18 and April 30, Israeli attacks have killed over 2,308 Palestinians and wounded at least 5,973, including children, women, and elderly individuals.
Overall, Israel has now killed at least 52,400 Palestinians, including 15,626 children, 9,807 women, 3,854 elders, 236 journalists, 300 UNRWA staff, and 1,502 medical personnel, while injuring over 118,014, largely civilians. Thousands remain missing, most believed to be buried under the rubble of bombed buildings across the devastated Gaza Strip.
