Due to the strict immigration policies implemented by the U.S. government, citizens from countries such as Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Palestine, Nepal, Libya, and North Korea face greater challenges when attempting to enter the country.
Individuals from these nations must apply for a visa or a special permit through U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in order to gain legal entry into U.S. territory.

A passport is a critical document that allows for legal international travel.
Its strength is determined by the number of destinations a holder can access without requiring a visa.
The Henley Passport Index publishes a global ranking of 199 passports based on the access they grant to 227 destinations.
Passports considered “weak,” such as those from the ten countries listed above, generally require visas for entry into most countries—especially the United States.
In many cases, this ranking correlates with factors such as diplomatic conflicts, domestic security systems, and levels of irregular migration.
For example, the strained relationship between North Korea and the United States directly affects the entry restrictions placed on North Korean nationals.
The United States is known for having one of the most rigorous immigration systems in the world.
This is not only due to security concerns, but also because of the country’s international relations.
The visa application process is part of a broader protocol designed to regulate entry and ensure that individuals enter the country through legal and secure channels.
As a result, citizens of countries with so-called weak passports must often undergo more complex procedures, including in-depth interviews and thorough screenings by immigration authorities.
